Complete Your Pilgrimage By Offering Prayer To Badrinath

Badrinath is the place related with the worship of Lord Vishnu. It is surrounded by the mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan. It is said that sometimes in ancient times, berries were grown in abundant at this place and due to this reason only, this place was named as Badrinath as ‘Badri’ means berries. It is also famous by the name of ‘Tapobhumi’ which means the land of penance and meditation. Other name for Badrinath is ‘Bhubaikunth’ which means heaven on earth. It is the holiest place out of the four main dhams located in the Garhwal ranges. It is a famous and an important place for Hindus and so thousands and thousands of pilgrims from all around the world visit this holy place ever year. It is situated at a height of 3,133 meters above the sea level. The location of Badrinath is very beautiful as it is located at the confluence of the river Rishi Ganga and Alaknanda and in its backdrop, you will find charming mountain Neelkanth. It is a belief that your pilgrimage is incomplete without having a visit to Badrinath. This place is having a great importance even in Puranas and Mahabharata. Badrinath is one of most important pilgrim destination in Chardham circuit.
The main attraction of this place is:
Badrinath Temple: this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it is also famous by the name of Badri Narayan. This temple is built in a shape of a cone and it is 15 meter high temple. Adi Guru Shankaracharya was a philosopher saint of 8th century and he was the only person who builds this famous temple of Badri Narayan. Due to the damages caused by the avalanches, this temple was renovated number of times. The ‘Singh Dwara’ which is at the entrance of the temple has some special importance. The colorful entrance of the temple offers a modern look to the pilgrims.
This temple is divided into three parts- the ‘darshan mandap’ for rituals, ‘garbha griha’ which is a sanctum sanctorum and the ‘sabha mandap’ which is a place for the devotees to assemble. There are 15 idols in the complex of temple and each of them is sculpted in black stone. Among all the idols, the most attractive one is the idol of ‘Badrinath’.
There are some other attractive places also for the pilgrims to visit. For both the foreigners and the Indians, this temple is having great importance. So people from all over the world comes here to visit the temple along with some other attractions. Some of the major attractions are:
Hemkund Sahib: it is situated at a distance of 43kms from Badrinath.
Neelkanth: it is a pyramid shape snow peak and it is also famous by the name of ‘Garhwal Queen’.
Tapt Kund: it is a spring of hot and cold water, which is located at the bank of River Alaknanda. It is said that the water of this spring has some medicinal properties.
You can easily reach to Badrinath by Rail, Air or Road. The nearest airport is at Dehradun, nearest railway station is situated at Rishikesh (297kms) and Kotdwar (327kms) and by road, Badrinath is connected to Haridwar, Kotdwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun and some other places.
