Jim Corbett National Park: A Perfect Wild Life Destination In India

Named after legendary hunter turned conservationist Jim Corbett, Jim Corbett National Park is the old national park in India. The park was initially set up as Hailey National Park in 1936. Located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, this mesmerising park is reckoned as the protected area for the critically endangered Bengal tiger of India. The main highlight of the park is however Bengal tigers, which are not easily spotted. Ramganga River along with lush greenery offer plentiful prey for tigers. Apart from the tigers, you can spot leopards, which are found in plenty. Smaller felines in Corbett are inclusive of jungle cat, fishing cat and leopard cat. Deer species inclusive of sambhar, hog, black buck and chital, Sloth and Himalayan black bears, Indian Grey Mongoose, otters, yellow throated martens, ghoral (goat-antelopes), Indian pangolins, and langur and rhesus monkeys also stay here. In summers, don’t forget to catch up herds of elephants. Seeing hundreds of elephants of taking bath together is simply amazing. Crocodiles and fishes like Mahaseer are also some of the main highlights over here.
